The Mutual Financial senior management team consists of 4 partners who have almost 100 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
Our qualified advisors are supported by an extremely capable and approachable administration team, led by our Office Manager, Helen, who has 25 years industry experience. All support team members are either fully qualified advisors or studying towards professional examinations.
Austin previously operated his own successful financial services business in the City of London and has almost 20 years of experience in the financial services sector. Austin holds the advanced financial planning qualification, is a qualified pension specialist and was a top-performing MBA student, attaining the ‘MBA Prize’ from his University.
Austin has regularly appeared on BBC radio and television to provide an expert opinion on financial services-related issues, and prides himself on his ability to build and maintain strong relationships with each of his clients.
A DIY fanatic, Austin is in his element in the garden with a tool box or in the air, flying his Vans RV9 aeroplane, and loves to spend time with his young daughter, or looking after the chickens!
Starting his career in the banking industry 30 years ago, Andy initially specialised in stock broking and investment management for private individuals. Moving forward, Andy then advised corporate clients on matters such as key man, share purchase arrangements, corporate investments and corporate pensions.
Andy remains a proud Manchester City fan, causing some disturbance in the office with opposing Manchester United fans!
Andy is married with two children and likes taking regular family holidays in warmer climates and generally enjoying family life.
Stephen has spent almost 30 years in the financial services industry and, prior to setting up Mutual Financial with Andy and Austin, was a Shareholding Director in one of the UK’s largest privately owned IFA’s. His accolades include the huge professional honour of being awarded the ‘Worshipful Prize’ for attaining the highest results in the country for the Advanced Financial Planning examinations. Stephen also received a 1st class Honours MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Manchester Business School, specialising in Financial Accounting and Management, and achieved a Distinction for an MBA thesis on ‘seeking competitive advantage utilising information technology in the Financial Services industry’. His specialist areas include; corporate and group personal pensions, personal investments, and Inheritance Tax Planning.
Stephen spends much of his free time flying helicopters, having caught the flying bug whilst learning to fly RAF Bulldogs during his university years. More recently, he has passed his instructor rating on Gyrocopters and regularly takes his more adventurous clients for a whirl. He is also a Manchester United season ticket holder – which can create heated discussions with fellow Partner, Andy.
Gareth has worked in the financial services sector for over 14 years and has been with Mutual since 2010. After beginning his career as a mortgage advisor, he soon shifted to financial planning and stockbroking. Gareth holds an array of professional qualifications including: Securities, Diploma in Financial Planning, and is one of our firm’s qualified Pension Transfer Specialists, which is regarded as one of the UK’s most advanced pension qualifications.
Gareth is predominately involved with providing Wealth Management and Financial Advice to individuals, SME’s, as well as a few household names. He enjoys working with clients who have complex financial affairs and developing strategies to meet their ambitious requirements, and never shying away from a challenge. Gareth’s clients describe him as personal and pragmatic.
Married to Tina, he has two children, Matilda and Vincent. Gareth wrestles a busy work-life and home-life, while still making time for his many hobbies. Long-distance hikes, Scuba Diving, Boating off the UK's coastal waters and just about anything that pushes his life insurance premiums up!
Indoo celebrates 30 years of working in the Financial Services Industry this year, and primarily services doctors, providing them with full financial planning.
Indoo’s specialist areas include; Inheritance Tax Planning, savings & investments, costs, rents & surgery projects, retirement planning, together with income protection and life assurance for the medical practitioner.
Indoo writes articles for specialist medical publications as an expert in her field.
With her two sporty teenage boys, she is always on the go.
Steve joined Mutual Financial in 2014 and specialises in pensions advice for personal clients and corporate group schemes.
Steve graduated from Lancaster University in 2009 with a degree in Economics & History, and subsequently attained a Diploma in Financial Advice with the London Institute of Banking & Finance.
Steve continues to add to his qualifications as he works towards becoming a Chartered Financial Planner.
Outside of work, Steve’s two young girls keep him busy enough and leave him little time to train for his first Iron Man, which he aims to complete later this year.
Rob started working in the financial services industry in 2005 for a major pension and life-assurance company. After gaining a number of financial qualifications, he decided to move over to the advisory side of financial services.
Rob joined Mutual in 2011, initially working as a Paraplanner, before becoming a qualified financial advisor in 2014. Rob holds a Diploma in Financial Planning and specialises in pensions advice for individual and corporate clients.
Outside of work, Rob is married with four children and enjoys spending his time with family. He is a keen runner and has completed two half-marathons, and plans to run a full marathon in the near future.
John has worked in the Financial Services for over 30 years and specialises in Pensions, Investments and Tax Planning, having accumulate a wealth of knowledge in these areas through his time in the industry.
Outside of work, John is very keen on physical fitness, attending the gym six times a week to indulge in weight training, boxing-based circuit training and running. John has completed the BUPA Manchester 10K run three times and is considering a return to competitive ‘Powerlifting’. His myriad of interests extends beyond the gym, and includes music, computers, history and cosmology, along with trips out on one of his motorcycles – when the weather permits it.
Sarah has over 17 years’ experience in the financial services industry, having initially worked for a large pension and life assurance provider. After gaining invaluable experience in a compliance function, Sarah moved over to the IFA sector in a technical support role as a Paraplanner in 2007. Sarah holds the Diploma in Financial Planning and also has various qualifications, including a BA in Languages and Linguistics.
Her main focus now is to progress her career as a Paraplanner and is working towards achieving Chartered Status.
Outside of work and time permitting, being a busy mum of 2 young girls, Sarah likes music, preferably Indie and new romantic 80s as well as going to smaller gigs. She also likes reading books and watching films of cult classic status and has a keen interest in theology.
Matt has eleven years of experience in the financial service industry, initially working for a mortgage provider, and then for one of the largest SIPP providers in the UK. Matt later took this experience into the IFA sector, where he worked in a technical support role in 2014.
Matt holds a Diploma in Financial Planning and a degree in Economics and Industrial Management. His main focus now is to progress his career as a Paraplanner and to continue studying the relevant modules that will enhance his knowledge.
Outside of work, Matt likes to spend time with his family. Matt’s interests include watching football, rugby and cricket, and regularly goes swimming to keep fit.
Andy holds a BA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Brighton and a Masters in Literary Studies from the University of Amsterdam. With one year’s experience in financial services, Andy is currently training to become a fully qualified Paraplanner here at Mutual.
In his spare time, Andy enjoys reading Italian literature, including the works of Umberto Eco, going to the cinema, and plans to join a historical fencing club.
Charlotte joined Mutual in June 2015 as an Office Junior, after finishing her GCSE’s. She now studies Creative & Professional Writing at the University of Winchester and works at Mutual during her time off.
Since joining, Charlotte has progressed to Client Support Administrator and now handles all incoming phone calls and is working her way to becoming fully qualified admin. Charlotte plans to finish her university studies before training as a Paraplanner here at Mutual.
In her spare time, Charlotte is an avid reader, and enjoys travelling and explaining why soy milk is better than regular milk.
Laura joined Mutual in October 2012. She has worked for two other financial advisor firms and has over 13 years’ experience working with both group and individual pensions and a range of investments and protection. Previous to Mutual Financial, Laura has worked in a variety of sectors including Advertising & Design and Animal Care.
Outside of work, Laura likes to spend a lot of time with family, especially her two young nieces and nephew. Laura is an avid football fan and enjoys cooking, reading and watching films. Laura and her wife are new mums to Alex and are enjoying life together along with their Griffon Bruxellois, Maggie and Vince.
Karen joined the Mutual Team after 17 years of working in the IFA sector of Financial Services. She has gained most of her experience through her work for two large banks, then latterly for a National IFA specialising in the individual, corporate and medical sectors.
Outside of work, when she isn’t spending time on the East Yorkshire Coast, you will find Karen socialising with her friends and family or enjoying a good film, book or cooking.
Rebecca holds almost ten years’ experience in the financial services, working for various Financial Advisor firms and two of the UK’s largest banks, before joining Mutual in 2017. Rebecca is currently studying for her exams to gain the Award in Financial Administration.
Recently married, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike, going to the gym, and travelling.
Rachel came to Mutual in November 2018 and brings with her three years’ experience in the financial services, having previously worked as a wealth administrator in Jersey.
Rachel likes to spend her free time reading, watching films, and spending time with her family.
Emma holds over eleven years’ experience working within the Financial Services. Most of her experience has been gained through her work in advisory firms, specialising in the individual, corporate and medical sectors.
Outside of work, Emma can be found socialising with her friends and family and attending gigs around Manchester with her partner. A proud Harry Potter fan, the most recent addition to the Morgan household is her cat, Albus.
James joined Mutual in August 2018, after finishing college, and is soon to begin studying for his qualifications in financial planning.
In his free time, James enjoys going to the gym, spending time with his friends, and going on weekend trips with his girlfriend.
Georgina oversees our investment research, quarterly asset allocation reviews, portfolio construction and fund selection recommendations. She is a seasoned researcher and data analyst with over 20 years of experience working for wealth management, consulting and investment banking companies.
Georgina graduated from Oxford University in 1995 and went on to work in asset management for a management consultancy until 2003, before moving on to work as a research analyst in the investment banking divisions of UBS, Bear Stearns and Morgan Stanley in New York.
Since returning to the UK, Georgina has gained further experience in similar roles for other wealth management firms, before joining us at Mutual. Georgina spends her free time looking after her toddler and visiting Romania and Ireland to assist in fund raising for rescue dogs, herself adopting three dogs; Charlie, Finn and Summer.
Helen has worked in the Financial Services industry for the past 25 years, initially in a support capacity, later moving into management in 2000. The majority of her career has been spent working for two large insurance companies, specialising in pensions and investments. Helen eventually saw the light and moved into the IFA sector in 2013.
Outside of work, Helen is an ‘armchair’ Manchester City fan and is an active participant of the Monday morning office football banter. She also enjoys spending quality family time with her husband and two grown up daughters, and is a proud ‘grandy’ to her two young grandchildren.
Steve joined Mutual in May 2016, and has a long career in insurance and accounting. After working in insurance for just over ten years, Steve decided that he needed a change of pace, and in 1997 he moved to ICC (now Redsky) as an accountant.
Steve has worked in various aspects of contract management over the years, and brings this experience to his role here at Mutual.
When he’s not in the office, Steve spends his time with his family, walking, and is a keen fan of Altrincham Football Club. He also enjoys reading about history, in particular World War One and the Russian Revolution.
David joined Mutual in November 2018 with 20 years’ previous experience working for IFA and wealth management firms in various compliance roles. David has a honours degree in Economics and Business, as well as completing the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment Diploma in 2011 which led to him attaining Chartered Fellow status.
In his free time, David enjoys running and going to the gym to keep fit, and spending time with his two children. David also has his own allotment, where he grows everything from sprouts to pumpkins.
